Part 5 - South America 2020

February 14-17, 2020

We arrived on time in The Falkland Islands. The sea was mostly calm and the winds were mild. The early groups got off the ship to shore safe and sound. By the time we were ready to go the water was stirred up a bit more. We did depart the ship and made it to within 100m of the dock only to hear the radio crackle and a voice state "operation suspended" and we were forced to turn back to the ship. No feet on land today. But we enjoyed a 45 minute boat ride in a very rough harbor. Maybe we were lucky, as the rain and winds picked up an hour or two later. After departing the Falkland Islands we saled for two days before arriving in Montevideo, Uruguay. In Montevideo we went on a morning walking tour followed by a late lunch on the ship. In the evening we went to a jaw dropping event at Teatre Solis. It seemed like the entertainment of color, music and dance went on forever. It presented some of the history of Uruguay and the events surrounding Carnival. Wow! After the event the ship departed for our last port of call in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
