Porto and Lisbon, Portugal - Day 10-12

We left Gijon back into the open waters of the Atlantic. We rounded the north east corner of Spain and headed south towards Porto, Portugal. After a bit of fog in the morning we landed in the port of Leixeos. It's a busy medium sised port. After a nice breakfast (happened every day) we boarded the shuttle to Porto. Yes, Porto is known for that special Port Wine. Everyday of this trip I had wine of some sort. They always served it at lunch and dinner. A few days where we at at the deck grill, I would have a margarita or two with my meal. So on to Porto and the beautiful orange/red tile roofs of the buildings. The architecture is impressive. The lay of the land requires lots of walking up and down streets. But it is a place to return to and watch people and look at impressive views. After Porto we sailed to Lisbon. We docked litterally at the front door of Lisbon. The ship provided a shuttle to the central part of the city. But you would easily walk (and we did) around the part of town where we docked. Down the the water it was flat but Lisbon is built upon several hills. None of them are of any great height, but you did need to be prepared to walk up and down the narrow streets. People in both cities were marvelous! Both of these cities are impressive. Between them resides the vast majority of Portugese citizens. While in Lisbon we participated in a tour of a winery located about 30 minutes outside of the city. We tasted something like 5 different wines while there. It would be a nice place to spend a couple of days on holiday. From Lisbon, we saled to Gibraltar - yes, The Rock of Gibraltar.
